Advanced Heat Treat honored

WATERLOO — Advanced Heat Treat Corp., headquartered in Waterloo, earned the Nadcap Merit status for heat treating (ion nitriding) at the MidPort location in Waterloo.

Nadcap is one of the ways in which the aerospace industry identifies those who excel at manufacturing quality products through special processes. This is the third year in a row the company has achieved the status.

Sartori hospital earns award

CEDAR FALLS – Sartori Memorial Hospital has been named a 2017 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have consistently achieved the 95th percentile or above of performance in clinical quality.

‘Earn to Learn’ workshop slated

CEDAR FALLS — The University of Northern Iowa’s Educational Opportunity Center will offer an “Earn to Learn” skilled trade educational workshop from 4 to 5 p.m. Jan. 23, free and open to the public.

The workshop will be at the Cedar Falls Public Library, 524 Main St.

Monica Bass, an advocate and educator for trade careers in Northeast and central Iowa, and founder of the Skilled Trade Education Network, will be the guest speaker. For more information, call 273-4774.

Medical staffing firm purchased

WATERLOO — Wapiti Medical Staffing of Milbank, S.D., announces the acquisition of Emergency Practice Associates in Waterloo, based at 3840 W. Ninth St.

EPA provides medical staffing. It has been around for three decades. Wapiti will maintain the full staff in Waterloo to support its existing clientele while preparing for continued expansion.

ELM’s products debut in Japan

GRUNDY CENTER — Environmental Lubricants Manufacturing Inc., a manufacturer of bio-based grease and lubricants, announces a distributor agreement with Chugoku Kogyo Co. Ltd., Hiroshima, Japan, as nationwide distributor of ELM products.

EOC to offer workshop

WATERLOO — The University of Northern Iowa’s Educational Opportunity Center will hold a Money Smarts: Financial Literacy Workshop at the UNI Center for Urban Education on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon.

Tina Hummel, branch manager from Community Bank and Trust, will give a presentation on improving your credit, budgeting basics and borrowing responsibly. The workshop is free and open to the public.

The EOC program provides educational assistance to adults 19 and older who have not already completed their High School Completion Program (HiSET has replaced the GED) and/or Bachelor’s Degree, and that reside in Black Hawk, Bremer, Butler, Buchanan, Chickasaw or Tama counties.
