TRAIN DISPATCHER – WATERLOO, IOWA

Position Requirements:

Train Dispatchers are responsible for receiving and transmitting track warrants, messages, compiling information, directing train movements, preparing reports and scheduling crews. In addition the successful applicant will perform car accounting and clerical duties. Applicants must be able to operate computer devices and auxiliary equipment. Qualified candidates will be required to pass rules exams. Dispatchers must be able to identify and distinguish colors displayed on a video monitor and video display in order to read track labels, switch indicator lights and other safety sensitive indications.

 

Applicants should have superior interpersonal and analytical skills, be able to speak clearly, read and understand operating and safety rules, exercise good judgment, analyze problems and take corrective action.  Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong aptitude for utilizing information systems and thrive in a fast-paced, pressure-filled work environment with changing priorities. Multi-tasking is a must. 

 

Dispatchers do not work a standard 40-hour work week.  Shift will be primarily 2nd and 3rd and include weekends and holidays.
